    First Boston Show (Wilbur Theater)

Inaugural show in Bean Town also broke in venerable comedy venue's first rock show.  Slight lighting and sound bugs failed to deter guys' energy and effort.   Rhett's vocals sounded strong.  Ken's rifts blew us away.  Murray and Phillip exhibited usual positive sparks. Good turnout for a Sunday night competing with Red Sox. Bostonians on the floor came ready to rock.  Transplanted Texans and show veterans in audience helped lead large contingent of first timers. Noticeably heavy teenage audience on front row impressively out of control.  Ken hung out on stage afterwards for  a good while to chat with fans.

Yeah, the band was great, as usual, but the sound at the Wilbur was just horrible, at least from our spot at the back of the floor.  About the worst mix I've ever heard. Not sure this was really the FIRST rock show there, although it certainly sounded like it.

Glad I saw the Beachcomber show this summer.

We were across the street at Jacob Wirth hours before the show. We could see the tour van and an RV that looked like it had been in some type of accident. I ran into Phillip outside. I never met him before but he greeted me like an old friend. He told me about the fender bender Charlie Louvin’s bus had and how his bass player was injured. Phillip was a real nice guy and enthusiastic about the upcoming performance. Shortly after Rhett walked into Jacob Wirth and was immediately recognized. As he strolled by our table he graciously shook my hand and stated he was looking to check out the Dallas Cowboy’s score. The show was amazing. We last saw them at the Beachcomber in August. It was nice to hear "Crash on the Barrelhead", "Lonely Holiday" and "Indefinitely". Ken is so fun to watch. He must have thrown over a dozen guitar picks out to the audience throughout the show. I purchased a couple of small t-shirts for my little girls that they appreciated greatly. When we were leaving we passed by the tour van, spotted Rhett in the door and gave him the "thumbs up" sign.

the Wilburs got some real bugs to work out!

The band was great as usual, but the sound was absolutely awful.I got into an argument with the staff about being asked to make a snap decision on what color area you would like to stand in.I unfortunately chose green which left me stuck in a "pen" in the back where you just couldn't hear the band.I eventually was let into  an area a little closer, but the room just didn't work for the Old 97s.

I also ran into Rhett (just like every other time I've seen them)outside the show and he was friendly and gracious as always.

Oh yeah I was also shocked to find there was no bar!Anyone else think this should have been mentioned to ticket buyers
