Hello all !

 

I'm new to the board & the band, but having just grabbed the new CD & can't stop listening to it, I believe the 97s are my new favorite band !

 

I knew ABOUT them for a while; some of the other bands I dig are on the same label: Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell, Steve Earle, to name a few......so I'd seen the name when I go to the New West site.

 

Anyway, between the Old 97s, DBT, & Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers,  I'll be busy learning some new songs (I play guitar & bass).

About 4 hours south of you.....West Palm Beach area.

We need to make a big push for the 97's to make a stop in mid to south Florida this tour. I'm from Ft. Lauderdale but would travel to Orlando or Gainesville if I have to.

If we could somehow get the 97's to replace Maroon 5 on the Counting Crows tour, it would be perfect...show in Tampa and West Palm Beach.

I think I'd rather travel to Atlanta then see them as an opening act...there is nothing more frustrating than seeing a band that you like play for 45 minutes in front of 100 people(because most people are tailgating until the headliner) then have to leave. Plus I prefer seeing them in a smaller venue as opposed to an amphitheater type setting.

For the life of me I don't see how a band like Maroon 5 gets so popular so quickly. And I agree with Fitz...I'd rather see them as the headliner. OTOH, as a warmup act, you can get to the front no problem. Well, I'm ALWAYS up front anyway, on the ready to snag a setlist. ;-)

I'm dying for them to come to FL!!  I'm in SE FL as well.  I saw Rhett solo in Miami a few years ago but have never seen the whole band.  Rhett;s show in Miami wasn't too packed so maybe they don't want to come to FL? :(  I think they should play the Bamboo Room.

Maroon 5 sucks and not many Counting Crows fans I know are happy to see them on the tour. If the 97's took that slot, it's a full set because it's co-headlining with Augustana opening.  I'm just daydreaming in type, cause it's not happening. I'm making the trek to ATL to see them.

I have a friend who says it's a good venue. My first time seeng them was in a park in Nacgodches where we were just standing right in front of them. The second time was Gruene Hall. Both were fantastic shows.

I saw Rhett's show in Miami as well, and if I'm not mistaken he promised to come back with the band. I would definitely be up for a show at the Bamboo Room or the Culture Room in Ft.Lauderdale or in the middle of the everglades for that matter!!
