After the band's awesome gig at the legendary Cain's ballroom in Tulsa (June 1, 2008), the roadie came by the front of the stage with a handful of drumsticks ... badly beaten drumsticks at that. A number of us in the front row reached out to catch one, and lo and behold, one landed in my grasp. Caught up in the moment, I thought it would make a killer keepsake from the show ... True. Very true.
But what do I really need with a drumstick? Am I being selfish here? I have my ticket stub. I have my photos. Wouldn't some other fan cherish it more? Could this thin shaft of blistered wood make someone else's day/week/month ... what about the fan who didn't get to see them from the front row? Or not at all?
So here's your chance. I will give the authentic Philip Peeples' drumstick to one deserving Old 97's fan.
But how will I choose, you ask?
Send me a PM with your heart-felt reason -- IN 100 WORDS OR LESS -- why you'd like (and deserve) to possess the drumstick. If you want to use emotional blackmail I am indeed a sucker for that, but I'd appreciate honesty. You don't have to lie and claim to be the biggest charity case in the world to get the stick. Just be sincere. I also might not go for the charity angle. Maybe you have a unique reason why this souvenir would be meaningful. (You can post your reason below, but I didn't want to turn it into a thread of one fan trying to out-do the other with "my is better than your reason" ...)
I guess all "contests" need a cut-off date -- so you have until July 1 to enter.
After that date, I will choose the "winner" and mail (on my dime) the item to him/her.
No purchase necessary.
Good luck!
