    Peform at a Fan's Wedding?

    Hi,

I'm having trouble finding information on the site about how to email the band. I'm a longtime fan - I saw my first show in New York in the summer of 1999 and have since seen the band perform in Austin and Washington, DC - and I'm getting married this summer. On one of our early dates, I took my fiance to see Rhett perform at the Black Cat, and he was won over as well. I know this may be a longshot, but is there any chance the band would perform at a wedding?

    Thank you.

You might want to watch this video before you think about having the band play at your wedding. According to Rhett they are a HORRIBLE wedding band Big Smile

From what I gather, almost no chance. The band generally doesn't enjoy playing them, and as was mentioned in the previous post, they don't feel they make a good "wedding band."

That said, you may have two small chances to get them; if you can answer yes to either of the following questions:

    1) Are you a *close* friend or family member? (Someone help me out here; haven't they played a couple of these before? Seems like they have.)

    2) Do you have a lot of money to spend? I mean a *whole* lot? See they also don't play corporate gigs either, for basically the same reasons, except on those very rare occasions when they have. Because those 97's babies gotta eat, right? So once or twice, when a corporation has really made it worth their time to show up and play for a crowd who doesn't know who they are, and are there for another reason anyway, well, they've showed up and played their hearts out. But you really have to pay.

If you can answer yes to either, please contact their booking agent. Otherwise, why not just buy 97's tickets for that 7/29 D.C. gig for your new bride and several of your good friends, rent some hotel rooms, and make a night of it?

Finally, huge congrats on the marriage!

    Cheers,

    frank
